Edmonton Gets Hot with the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Rogers Place on Sunday Night - May 28, 2017

Dana Zuk May 30, 2017

PHOTOGRAPHED FOR AESTHETIC MAGAZINE

My apologies, folks. It's been a long while since I've made a blog post; Mostly due to my own laziness, I'll admit, and a fair few rights-grabbing contracts over the past few weeks. But nevertheless, I'm back with bang and with a new publication behind my belt which I am very excited to be staring a new chapter with in my concert photography career. I'm looking forward to shooting more shows with Aesthetic Magazine, as well as becoming a part of the team.

At last, an arena gig that didn't completely tie my hands behind my back with a contract... I ended a busy weekend of shooting local acts around the Edmonton area with the one and only Red Hot Chili Peppers as they rocked Rogers Place in Edmonton on Sunday night to a sold out house on their current "The Getaway" tour. The weather was gorgeous on Sunday, and spirits were high all throughout Edmonton's down town core, as thousands flocked to Rogers Place to witness the genius of RHCP which left fans in awe and tears with their stellar performance.

Annual 'Thaw at the Shaw' Heats Up Edmonton's Downtown Core with Sum 41 and Papa Roach - April 13, 2016

Downtown Edmonton was lit ablaze on Great-Thursday (the Thursday before Good Friday, clever, I know.) with 100.3 The Bear's annual concert series 'Thaw at the Shaw' featuring punk rockers Sum 41 and rock 'n rollers Papa Roach as the main draws for the 2017 rendition of the event. Opening up the night with Bleeker and Danko Jones, Edmonton's Shaw Conference Centre steadily filled with eager folks looking for a hefty dose of rock 'n roll, and they received just that!

PHOTOGRAPHED FOR CONCERTWORKS

While I try to play catch up after an incredibly busy week, my second stop of the night on March 31st, after photographing The Lumineers at Rogers Place for Exclaim!, was at the Starlite Room to catch the buzz on Sweden's Amorphis, as they unleashed their brand of progressive metal on their Edmonton audience.

The Lumineers Strum and Stomp Out Sing-Along Tunes to Rogers Place on Cleopatra World Tour - March 31, 2017

Dana Zuk April 7, 2017

PHOTOGRAPHED FOR EXCLAIM!.CA

This was the first of two shows for me on March 31st, chalking the date up to an excellent Friday night in Edmonton. First of which, The Lumineers at Rogers Place; this being my first time shooting in this new, extravagant venue. I was thrilled to be stepping foot on the floor of Rogers Place, and to have this legendary folk-rock group in front of my lens, as they strummed and stomped out numerous fan favourite sing-along tunes to a packed house in Edmonton.

Check out the official show review and more photos of The Lumineers in Edmonton HERE at Exclaim.ca!

Edmonton Gets Heavy with Slaughterfest 2017 and Says Good-Bye to Disciples of Power - March 25, 2016

Dana Zuk March 29, 2017

Edmonton was served a heaping dose of heaviness over the weekend, as Slaughterfest came under way down at The Forge on Whyte Ave on Saturday night. Metalheads from all over Alberta rallied together to get a little crazy, and to bid farewell to our cities heavy metal forefathers, Disciples of Power.

The line up for the 2017 rendition of one of Western Canada's heaviest one-day festivals consisted of talent residing from all over central Alberta, with the likes of Disciples of Power, Display of Decay, Vile Insignia, Widows Peak and Misery Tomb, lending their brands of shred for the evening to make this one of the heaviest nights of local metal that Edmonton will see this year.

This night in particular being extra special, not because of the community banding together to have a good time, but because Disciples of Power flew their flag one last time before moving forward under a new name. Details of the name change and a brief history on the band can be found in their most recent interview with Vue Weekly HERE.

Do you want to play Edmonton's Slaughterfest next year? Check out their Facebook page or submit your band to:

Pierce The Veil Unleashes "Rest in Space" Tour to Edmonton's Shaw Conference Centre - February 23, 2017

Dana Zuk February 24, 2017

PHOTOGRAPHED FOR VANDALA MAGAZINE

Pierce the Veil graced Edmonton's Shaw Conference Centre with their action-packed Rest in Space tour last night to an all ages audience. A sea of roaring teens crowded the front row and sang to their hearts content to their favourite PTV jams that radiated from the monitors on stage. Complete with confetti and C02 cannons, the band kicked, leaped and hopped their way through their set, making this gig one of the more entertaining shows that I've had in front of my lens so far this year.

In Flames Bring's the Heat to Union Hall with HELLYEAH and Source - December 16, 2016

Dana Zuk December 17, 2016

PHOTOGRAPHED FOR MRG CONCERTS WEST

Concluding my year of awesome concerts with this show was the best possible way I could have brought this year to a close. The infamous In Flames and HELLYEAH teamed up on their co-headlining tour to bring Union Hall to the ground, and they did just that! Many Edmontonian's braved the bitter weather to catch the buzz on this gig, and not a single person left the venue without a smile on their face!

Savage Playground Drives Brixx Bar & Grill Wild With Opening Performance - December 14, 2016

Dana Zuk December 16, 2016

Edmonton's newest up and coming rock 'n rollers, Savage Playground, unleashed a wild set on their Edmonton audience at the Brixx bar and grill on Wednesday night, rocking the packed house to the core with their rendition of classic rock 'n roll.

Once again, being out and about shooting a rad local band couldn't have made me happier. Not to mention seeing the abundance of support that the Savage boys had received from their audience. Hitting up this gig to catch the guys in action was well worth braving the bitter, cold weather! The guys nailed their performance, which seemed to have smashed the expectations of those gathered in the venue who were not yet familiar with Savage Playground's music.

The guys also have a wicked new video out for their new song "Could've Been Me", which you can check out HERE on YouTube!
